PR Newswire
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Oct. 13, 2026
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Oct. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Packaging Compliance Labs (PCL) announces a major capital investment for its new pharmaceutical and device testing lab. Responding to growing demands from life sciences companies, this investment centers on the acquisition and installation of three Instron Universal Testing Systems that are an integral part of PCL’s expansion of testing and engineering services to support pharmaceutical packaging and drug delivery systems.

The systems will support autoinjector, prefilled syringe and sterile hypodermic needle testing. With the additional state-of-the-art equipment, PCL aims to help customers bring life-saving pharmaceutical products to market with speed and efficiency.
“Our clients have asked us to expand upon our core services and provide further support for pharmaceutical projects,” said Matt Lapham, CEO of PCL. “With this investment we’re ready to provide the testing support our clients need to bring novel therapies to market.”
PCL finished renovations to their Grand Rapids headquarters in September, opening the doors to their new pharma testing lab. The core platforms are based on Instron’s proven Instron Model 6800 Series that support the full suite of ISO 11040 series tests for prefilled syringes as well as many other physical/mechanical tests for pharma packaging systems. In addition, PCL has acquired Instron’s latest generation Autoinjector Testing System that can perform full functionality testing on autoinjectors and safety syringes. This system measures a variety of essential drug delivery outputs allowing PCL to meet international standards such as ISO 11608.
“As pharmaceutical pipelines continue to be shaped by large molecule therapies, device development and performance verification are becoming increasingly important,” said Landon Goldfarb, Life and Tech Segment Manager at Instron. “By incorporating the Instron injectable drug delivery testing platform into its new laboratory space, Packaging Compliance Labs is strengthening its ability to evaluate a broad range of drug delivery systems, from prefilled syringes to next-generation autoinjectors, while helping customers keep pace with innovation.”
